There are certain qualities that I wish I had..
1. A singing voice : somehow the tune in my mind doesn't get reflected when it comes out of my mouth.
2. An ability to cook anything deliciously. I do cook, but the taste is often just mediocre.
3. A fab body. Now i think this a girl thing . I have always been on the average-fat side.being short, any gain of weight gets compounded on my small frame. But have always had the desire to sport a swimsuit without looking vulgar-- prob one thing that I can work and change, but I wonder whether I will ever.
4. Have enough riches to travel anywhere in the world. My dream job would be of Samantha's. She gets to stay in the worlds best hotels and visit the most exotic locations around the world. Imagine doing it as a part of your job...priceless!
5. Have some kind of talent that I am good at..could be anything...gardening, singing, painting, writing...I am not saying excellent..but you know just plain good..and unfortunately I can't name one that I can be proud of :(
sigh...and there are some more which I will complete later.

There is something about the man....
who can attract young and old alike and transcend across borders, cultures and generations.
look who is watching Sivaji now
look who is watching Sivaji now
Has Yash Raj lost the plot?
Was the question asked on rediff today.
Made me remember an episode of Koffee with Karan that I watched on You tube a while ago. The show had Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor as guests and in the rapid fire round when Karan asks Kareena
"What does Rani have that Kareena doesnt' ?"
She famously replied "Yash Chopra."
Having said that I think it was only a matter of time before this happened. How long can people watch the same set of actors (Amitabh, Abhishek, SRK, Saif) , actresses (Preity, Rani, Ash) , supporting cast (kiron kher, satish shah, farida jalal) over and over again with teeny bit changes in characterisations ?
Invariably the characters have to be rich (read - have to sportdesigner wear) , beautiful and be located in some picturesque location abroad.
Believe me I loved DDLJ when it was released about 10 years ago, still do and am not against breezy romances. (in fact do love them a lot.) but it does get too saccharine beyond a point.
May be the days of soft romances are over.

Another memorable one from Mahabharata..
This story i read pretty recently in some Amar Chithra Katha..and this one is on Karna - the one and only original tragic hero ever. (side note : Sivaji Ganesan in tamil movie Karnan is mind blowing. all time favorite movie . thanks mom for making me watch it)
Well, the here's the story.
Krishna and Bhima have an argument. Bhima wonders why Karnan who was known for his benevolance is the best amongst the rest ? His argument : if he had Karnan's wealth he could be better than him.
Krishna disagrees and puts them to a test.
He calls Karna and Bhima and gives each of them a mountain of gold coins. He then tells them whomsoever finishes distributing the gold coins first is the more ?(most..help needed with figure of speech) "kodai vallal" of the two.
Time passes and Bhima is busy distributing his mountain of gold coins and Karna is already done!
Krishna asks Karna whether he is done already and he replies as a matter of fact "Yes! I gave the entire mountain to the first person who came!"
Bhima learns his lesson!

One story that made me..
what I am..and I go back to it very often. I think I heard this story sometime in 5-6 std in school. Its a side story of Mahabharata. which i think btw is the greatest story ever told.
but lets get to the point and here is the story:
Both Yudishtara and Duryodhana are given a simple task. "Find a good and bad person". Simple enough.
Yudishtara comes back and says " I can't find any bad person."
Duryodhana comes back and says " I can't find any good person".
Moral of the story: You see in others what you are yourself.
That is if you are a bad person to begin with you only see the bad qualities in others and vice-versa. Ever since this story got etched in my young impressionable mind I have almost questioned myself every time before faulting others..... even when I completely do not agree with another person i sought of try and think why they feel the way they do. (psychoanalysis ? )
This said...I don't this is a good story to live ur life by:
1. every time some one antagonizes you...I have to first find fault in myself and then the other person ..paradoxical ?
2. in present era present scenario...you need to have the smarts to figure/judge people and treas cautiously.
So will i tell my son this story ? May be yes..may be not.

Dual mode of existence
I have dual mode of existence when it comes to work/studies:
One in which I am really sincere, hardworking ahead of schedule blah blah...but then every once in a while ..due to whatever reason there might be, i slip into another mode. this mode is exactly the opposite..wherein i come into work. due hardly anything useful as to even to fill my workhoues and keep postponing things for no apparent reason. boredom is it what it is ?
This i have noticed about me ever since my school/college days. in school it set between my 11'th and 12'th stds. somehow picked it up in my 12'th towards the cbse finals.
was good to go in BITS but slacked in MS. again at work have been good for the past 1 year..but seem to slack since the beg if this year.
the irony is I really want to come out this and be my sincere self again. Hope to come out of it soon . have a big deadline looming in front of me!
Is it me or are there any one else out there like me ?
